Inspection techniques
Scroll to see the main techniques we apply in the field.

An advanced ultrasonic technique using a probe with many small elements (typically 16 to 128) to generate and electronically steer the sound beam.
It detects flaws in welded joints and many types of materials with high precision.
Learn more about Phased Array
An electromagnetic method that detects surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials and welds — even through a light coat of paint, with no need to remove the coating.
Learn more about Eddy Current
One of the best methods for detecting surface flaws in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminium, alloys, ceramics, glass and some plastics. It also locates leaks in pipes, tanks and welds.

A magnetic field runs through the part; the applied particles are attracted to any discontinuity, forming a clear indication of the defect.

The most common use of ultrasonics. It needs no access to the opposite wall, so corrosion wear can be tracked without stopping the equipment — essential for assets that run for years without shutdown.
Learn more about Thickness Measurement
Detects internal flaws through the reflection of sound waves. An ultrasonic pulse is sent by a probe coupled to the material; echoes from flaws or the back wall are converted into signals and shown on screen.
It identifies cracks, laminations, lack of penetration, laps and segregations.

Frequently asked questions
NDT methods assess the integrity of materials, welds and equipment without damaging them. The inspected part remains fit for use after the test.
It depends on the material (ferromagnetic or not), the type of flaw sought (surface or internal) and access to the part. Our team will assess and recommend the most suitable test — get in touch.
Not always. Ultrasonic thickness measurement, for example, does not require access to the opposite wall and allows wear to be monitored while the equipment is running.
Type of equipment or part, material, approximate quantity and dimensions, job location, applicable standard (if any) and desired deadline. Photos help a lot.
